We are looking for a motivated, energetic and talented person to join our Business Development team in Halifax.

Is this position for you? In this role you will:

  • Develop a pipeline through meeting, attending conferences/events, calling, and emailing
  • Provide product/service demonstrations and sales presentations
  • Work with technical team to provide technically customized products/services to clients
  • Driving referral request conversations with current and new customers
  • Provide new hires with necessary training, coaching, and guidance to ensure early success as well as career development.
  • Provide CRO with timely reviews on employee performance
  • Ensure key performance metric targets for sales team are met
  • Any other reasonable job responsibilities that assigned
  • Up to 50% Domestic and International travel required due to business needs

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in marine technology sales or IT related fields
  • Post-secondary in business management or management training is asset
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, dynamic industry
  • Track record of building, coaching, and enabling a rapidly growing team
  • Must be sales minded and be sales target driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and oral communication/negotiation skills
  • Ability to answer inquiries on time
  • Experience selling into a variety of industries and regions as well as experience cultivating larger, strategic relationships and opportunities
  • Good working knowledge in the Windows Suite of products
  • Quota-attainment record of meeting and/or exceeding targets by managing process for identifying, qualifying, & closing new business as well as and not limited to growing an existing install base
  • Strong selling skills, with exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication abilities to work within a professional, team-oriented environment,
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Experience in setting goals by defining and prioritizing specific, realistic objectives is required
  • Ability to maintain positive, productive relationships with co-workers, peers, management, sales, and production departments and ability to motivate individuals and groups
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – includes excellent reporting and forecasting skills
  • Ability to recognize market trends by collecting, organizing, and analyzing statistical data
  • Ability to remain updated on current technology and trends in the industry
  • Independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions, and act in solving problems
  • Ability to understand and manage financial and budget reporting
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation as this position involves local travel on a regular basis (and auto insurance coverage per company’s policy)

We are looking for a motivated, energetic and talented person to join our Research and Development department in Halifax.

Is this position for you? In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Designing of electronics and embedded systems for ocean technology platforms;
  • Providing electrical and data integration for a wide variety of instruments, including meteorological, oceanographic and telemetry equipment;
  • Executing procedures for design and development control of non-conforming products, including dependency support for sales, field service, and customer service;
  • Meeting client objectives and diligently working on clarifying and establishing requirements that were previously undefined;
  • Creating or updating documentation for buoy systems’, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance;
  • Integration and configuration of custom systems to meet client specifications;
  • Collaborating, and providing technical feedback and guidance to mechanical, software and data design teams;
  • Implementing applicable industry standards to meet regulatory requirements and drive safety, quality, interoperability and efficiency-based design outcomes;
  • Leading the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting products as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Minimum five years of experience in relevant engineering design roles;
Must have at least a BEng in Electrical, Computer Engineering or equivalent discipline;
Have a thorough understanding of product design principles and standards;
Proven excellent problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Willingness to take responsibility and highly motivated to meet tight deadlines.

Highly Desired Skills and Experience

  • Leadership experience within multidisciplinary development teams and demonstrated ability to lead teams to successful outcomes;
  • Experience in managing design projects, delivering operational marine systems;
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout for embedded systems design
  • Senior level programming/debugging skills. Preferred experience with C++ programming for embedded systems, and Python for data analytics and scripting/automation;
  • Experience writing low-level applications to run on a microcontroller or microprocessor;
  • Experience with microcontrollers and low-level hardware interfaces, e.g. SPI and I2C, working with standard peripherals such as Flash, RAM, ADCs, EEPROM etc.
  • Experience using and understanding communications systems such as serial, Ethernet, CAN, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 802.15.4, etc.
  • Experience with Analog/Digital debugging tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
